Just this past Thursday (May 31, 2012), also labeled as World No Tobacco Day, the Ontario Lung Association has released a new smoking cessation workbook called journey 2 Quit. This interactive book is divided into three sections that aims to help smokers 1) prepare for the new change 2) devise a plan and make the appropriate decisions and finally 3) take action and live a smoke-free life.
Tobacco use remains a major health concern in Ontario claiming an average of 13, 000 preventable deaths/year. This initiative is thought to guide the two million Ontarians who still smoke and in particular those that expressed interest in quitting, which is estimated to be more than half.
